Bold and brilliant it was — without apology. At TEDWomen 2019, we were shining a spotlight on dazzling ideas from some of the world’s most extraordinary risk-takers and innovators.
Celebrating pioneers making power moves, brilliant people who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates. TEDWomen 2019 was no less than a joyful, thought-provoking celebration of smarts, savvy and diverse dynamism.
This event was a place for inspiration and for recognizing the incredible work championed by women and girls in all fields. Everyone — not just women — were welcome to gather in celebration of moving forward, boldly and brilliantly, while sharing the work of shaping our future.
Now is not only the present, the future is also now – two things that merge in our daily lives. As the world speeds up, we need to slow down to stay in the here and now. We often find ourselves looking back at our past for lessons and guidance, but we also see ourselves looking ahead to see what will shape the future. It takes great courage to keep moving forward while staying in the present. “Now” is not about instant gratification, but more about the space where we can enjoy the transition between the past and the future. “Now” gives us the possibility to take in the present moment in all its diversity and complexity.

We build them, we traverse them and sometimes we even burn them for better or worse. How appropriate for Antwerp; a city full of crossings and connections.

It is a TEDx event featuring the webcast of TEDWomen, a one-day event curated by TED and Pat Mitchell that this year will take place on December 5, 2013 in San Francisco.
TEDWomen 2013 will channel the bootstrap of Silicon Valley to celebrate inventions in all its forms. Not just technology, but also solutions to poverty, approaches to peacemaking, expressions of art and, at times, our own lives.
TEDxFlanders will take part by sharing the live stream and introducing its first TEDxWomen event on December 5, at Het Huis Happaert, right in the heart of Antwerp.
Around the theme “Sharing inspiring stories” our speakers will guide us through the way we communicate, what our jobs can bring us to, the force that lives inside of us all and how we can bring hope to others. Special attendees and acts will inspire and surprise this special evening and the launch of TEDxFlandersWomen.
Our theme refers to the idea that we look from the inside-out into the world.
Let’s look inward to go forward.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
